NEWTOWN - Michael Alan Abolt, 21, a life resident of Newtown, died Saturday night at San Diego, Calif., as a result of a car-motorcycle accident there. A companion was also killed in the accident. At the present time, t he family has not received details surrounding the accident. At the ti me of his death he was a Radioman Third Class with the United States Navy, stationed at Coronado, Calif. He was born Feb. 12, 1949, at Lafayette, the son of Milford and Betty Wells Abolt. He was a graduate of Fountain Central High School in 1967 and entered the Navy one week after graduation. He was stationed at San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 1968 until April of 1 970, when he was transferred to Coronado. He was a member of the Hopewe ll Baptist Church. Surviving with his parents are three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Glenn, Akron, Ohio; Miss Phyllis Abolt, Attica; Miss Christina Abolt, at home; one brother, Jeffrey Abolt, at home; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Borden Abolt, Newtown; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wells, Newtown. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather two and a half months ago. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. George Phelps officiating. The body will l ie in state for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Newtown. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro.   --- jlr

Radioman 3 C Michael A. Abolt, 21, died Saturday at San Diego, California following a traffic accident.  He joined the US Navy following graduation from Fountain Central HS in 1967. He had served in Puerto Rico prior to being transferred to Coronado Naval Base in California. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church here.  He was born Feb 12, 1949 at Lafayette the son of MIlford and Betty Wells Abolt. Survivors include his parents, 3 sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Glenn of Akron, Ohio; Miss Phyllis Abolt of Attica, and Miss Christina Abolt at home; a brother, Jeffrey Abolt at home and 3 grandparent s, Mrs. Bordon Abolt and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wells all of Newtown. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Borden Abolt, he died two months ago. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Baptist Church he re with Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near here. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wed at Crumley-WIlliams Funeral Ho me at Hillsboro. Body will lie in state one hour prior to service at Hopewell church.
